Okay...what do you call candy? And call as a verb or a noun?
Candy is called sweets; they're not candy machines, they're vending machines. Call as both a verb and a noun. I say things like "I'll give her a ring" when I mean "give her a call" or "ring the chemist" instead of "call the pharmacist".
people here point and laugh at the way I say them.
And do people back 'home' comment on how you speak now?
My Aussie friends tease me for talking like a Kiwi. My Kiwi friends say I talk like an Aussie. I dream of a little Island in the middle somewhere in which no one teases me about the way I speak. :)
I have the same dream! Ask Neil, I tell him this all the time.
Yes people at home tease about the words I use and the way I speak. They say I have an English accent, but people here are always pointing out that I am obviously not English. I wonder how long before that stops happening...
